Xi'an Chanba Ecological District

　　There are three pairs of relationships to be dealt with in the sculptural intention.

　　First, the relationship between life and politics. We need to bring politics to life and make the sculpture politically meaningful while at the same time perfectly integrated with life.

　　Secondly, the relationship between theme and expression. Xi'an's history and culture as the theme of the culture of the two rivers and four banks, whether in figurative or abstract expression, should be organically integrated into the historical elements, and attention should be paid to the elaboration of the theme and expression, the relationship between history and the future, to meet the needs of different classes of people.

　　Third, the relationship between society and the state. In sculpture in international regions, attention is to be paid to the proposition of whether society is the origin or the state is the origin.

　　D. in Philosophy, Professor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Department of Literature and History, Editor-in-Chief of the Modern Policy-Makers Series, and Final Reviewer of the Weekly Economic Review. He has long been engaged in philosophical and cultural studies. His main publications include The Nature of Thought, In History, and The Cultural Mission of the Chinese Communists. He has participated in the research work of a major national project "New Road to Peaceful Rise", which was highly valued by the Central Government and completed in collaboration with more than ten ministerial-level units, and was one of the core team members of the project. In recent years, he has taught courses such as "Cultural Vision and Cultural Thinking in the Scientific Outlook on Development" and "Core Value System Construction and Ideological Innovation".

　　The Chanba Sculpture Enhancement Project is, first and foremost, Xi'an's. Seizing this feature, it is naturally the nation's and the world's.

　　First, it calls out for the soul, with faith as the core of value. The sculpture creators must fully develop the spirit of craftsmanship and integrate faith into their sculptures, so that they have a soul and a distinctive style.

　　Secondly, the spirit of the organic and holistic sense of life is shown. The sculpture creation process should be in line with Xi'an's cultural lineage and organically integrated with Xi'an's culture, a restoration of Xi'an's historical lineage and an enhancement and presentation of its spiritual quality.

　　Thirdly, the creation concept of multiple perspectives of modern consciousness. It is important to consider the creation of works with multiple perspectives and to meet the aesthetic needs of the present and the past, the domestic and international, and the elegant and commonplace. To change from monolithic city sculptures to public art city sculptures; to create works with multiple perspectives, to connect public emotions and public life, to create a more grounded, more in line with the public aesthetic regional culture.

　　Professor Sheng Tianqi

　　Master of Aesthetics, Peking University, under the supervision of renowned professors Zhu Guangqian, Zong Baihua and Yang Xin. He has worked at the Central Party School, the Theory Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, the "Three Talks" Office of the Central Government, and the magazine Seeking Truth. He has participated in the drafting of central government documents and speeches of leading comrades on many occasions. He is the author of the first textbook on aesthetics for party and government cadres, Outline of Aesthetics.

　　The design of the Chanba Sculpture Group is ambitious, and Chanba has been very careful in its planning of the sculpture group, which is a serious and responsible approach to ecological civilisation and the construction of Greater Xi'an, with great expectations for the Chanba Sculpture Group.

　　The first is to use the unique ecological landscape as a backdrop for sculpture as a means to cultivate the "eye for beauty" in young people, to purify the mind and perfect the personality, and to create the first aesthetic education centre for youth sculpture in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province and the country as a whole.

　　Secondly, the city sculptures will be abstracted by using the figurative regional culture to shape the city sculptures. The sculptures are embedded with cultural concepts such as the roots of China, allowing the sculptures to tell the story of Chanba.

　　The third is the Silk Road theme sculpture. The sculptures will be built around the Belt and Road international exhibition area and will fully reflect the core ideas of exchange, collaboration, friendship and peace that characterise the Belt and Road.

　　Urban sculpture is the 'calling card' of a city, it condenses the history, culture and spirit of a city and has a strong spiritual and cultural character. It expresses people's thoughts, feelings and spiritual pursuits, and is the "soul" of a city. Chanba is committed to building a modern, fashionable and international eastern waterfront new city in Greater Xi'an, and the teachers are like lighthouses on the ocean, showing us the right direction.

　　In accordance with the requirements of the municipal committee, we will adhere to the guiding ideology and design concept of "ecology as the base, fashion as the colour, culture as the soul, and people as the foundation", incorporate first-class global wisdom, organically integrate history, representation, humanity and modernity, tailor the planning of the sculptures on the two rivers and the four banks of the river to the local context, and tell the story of history and Silk Road culture. The ecological zone will be developed into a core functional area for opening up Xi'an to the outside world, a high-quality place for public activities, and a beautiful home for people and nature to live in harmony.
